Description

MONO International School offers volunteers the opportunity to become part of a local school community and contribute to children's learning in practical and meaningful ways. Volunteers work alongside MONO's local teachers and can bring their own interests, creativity and experience into the school environment. The focus is not simply on teaching lessons, but on creating positive learning experiences and encouraging children to communicate, participate and become more confident. Depending on the school's current needs and the volunteer's skills, activities may include English conversation, educational games, reading practice, creative activities, arts and crafts, sports, school projects and other learning activities. Volunteers may also share aspects of their own culture, experiences and knowledge, giving children opportunities to discover perspectives beyond their local community. MONO serves children and young people from the surrounding area, and the school values learning that extends beyond textbooks. Alongside academic support, we encourage communication, confidence, respect, responsibility, cooperation and other skills that can help children in their everyday lives and future education. Volunteers are expected to work cooperatively with the local team. The local teachers know the children, their learning needs and the community, while volunteers can contribute fresh ideas, language practice and new experiences. This makes the placement a shared learning experience rather than a situation where a volunteer is expected to work independently. For people who enjoy working with children, the experience can be an opportunity to form genuine connections, learn from Cambodian teachers and families, and understand a part of Cambodia that is rarely experienced through ordinary tourism. We are interested in volunteers who approach the experience with curiosity and respect, who are willing to listen and adapt, and who understand that even small contributions can be meaningful when they are made consistently and thoughtfully.
